The term has started with some lovely bright sunshine and the children have had their first opportunity, of the year, to play on the main school field. We really are very fortunate to have such super grounds for them to enjoy.
We have very much enjoyed celebrating World Book Day, today. We filled the hall with a massive array of different book characters and enjoyed some creative story telling from Mr Maddocks. Whether your child is starting out on their reading journey or they are a capable and fluent reader, the benefit of sharing a book with your child should never be underestimated.
Last week, I had the great pleasure of attending the Wrington Vale Rotary Club Youth Speaks Competition. Three of our Year 6 pupils wrote and delivered a fantastic speech about ‘sports for all’. Having been inspired by the achievement of the Lionesses in the European Championships in 2022, the girls shared their own journey in sport and the positive impact this is having on their lives. They spoke with great confidence and passion, showcasing a deep knowledge of their topic as well as sharing personal stories that inspired the whole audience. The standard of the presentations was extremely high, but our team stood out and were awarded overall best team. Huge thanks go to Mrs Clausen who was their mentor for this competition, guiding and coaching the girls across a number of weeks. We are really grateful for her continued support. Congratulations girls!
