Class Learning 2023-2024
Term 6
This term's theme is DOWN UNDER
PSHE Changing Me
Boys’ and Girls’ Bodies
We enjoyed a practical session to learn about the differences between boys and girls and to use the correct names for different parts of the body.
First, we started by naming the outside or ‘public’ parts like head, ears, kness etc.
Then, we labelled two bodies and learned the technical terms for ‘private’ parts.
Finally, we dressed the bodies to demonstrate how these areas of the body are kept private, also discussing functions of clothes- to keep warm, look nice, to keep private parts private.
D and T Day (Tuesday 2nd July)
FOOD UNIT
We focused on the skills of chopping, slicing, cutting, squeezing, grating and peeling fruit and vegetables.
Fruit smoothies, fruit kebabs and mixed salad
Using vegetables to create FOOD ART
Term 5
Our Science learning for this term is all about PLANTS.
We dissected a runner bean seed to see what was inside. Can you remember which part is the seed coat? Which is the food store? Where is the baby plant?
Why are all of these important?
ENGLISH
Our text for this term is The Minpins by Roald Dahl.
There is a character in the story called The Spittler. You never get to see a picture of this creature, but there are many clues in the text about what he looks like. We became reading detectives, found the information in the text and then drew a picture of what we thought he looked like using this information. Each picture had to have:
- huge, black and hairy back legs
- 2 gigantic nose holes
- fire in his belly
- head shaped like a crocodile's
- rows and rows of sharp teeth
- lots of orange and red smoke coming out of his nose.
We have been writing a character description of this creature using conjunctions to extend our sentences.
'Nobody knows what he looks like because he breathes hot fire out of his mouth.' Chloe
'His back legs help him go faster so he can catch his dinner.' Pippa
'His head is like a crocodile's head and inside there are rows and rows of sharp pointed teeth.' Jaxon
'If you go behind him, you will see big, black, hairy legs that gallop faster than a horse.' Jacob
'When the fearsome Gruncher chases after you, piles and piles of disgusting red hot smoke comes out of his nose.' Henry
'Some people call him The Spittler but others call him The Gruncher.' Alicea-May

Music Day!
We enjoyed exploring how to compose music using music technology during Music Day. We looked at repeating percussion rhythms and how to create a simple tune over the top. We were very proud of our compositions.
Over the next few weeks, we are going to develop our skills at using this technology to compose music to describe an animal.
